The transmission rate will be up to 65Mbps downstream and 35Mbps upstream while the distance to the customer is less than 1Kft without bundling and without splitter. Various Band Plans Supports Different Applications VLC1224G-41 transceiver supports G.993.2 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, and 12a profiles
Gbps duplex backplane to provide high bandwidth transmission VLC1224G-41 provides up to two Gigabit Ethernet ports to connect to the MAC1000G (one GE per slot in IES-5000 and 2 GE per slot in IES-5005). Since VDSL ports can only support 100Mbps in a very short distance, VLC1224G-41 can have almost non-blocking interconnection to the MSC-1000G in most of the environments and application scenarios
Complete Ethernet VLAN and multicast functions VLC1224G-41 provides Ethernet VLAN feature for both security and performance purpose. VLAN is used to isolate traffic between different users/applications in order to provide better security/ performance. Performance can also be enhanced by limiting the broadcast traffic within a VLAN broadcast domain. The IGMP snooping function is also provided in VLC1224G-41. This prevents unnecessary forwarding of multicast traffic to all subscribers, thus optimizing bandwidth utilization for multicast applications such as broadcast video
MVLAN feature consolidates the same video stream requested by different VLANs. The multicast VLAN feature checks all the VLANs to see if they request the same video stream. If they do, instead of requesting many video streams, it requests only one and then distributes to all the VLANs that request the video stream. Thus, the total number of the video streams can be reduced significantly.
Rate Limiting Allows Service Differentiation. In order to fulfill the needs of different customers, service providers need a network infrastructure that combines guaranteed performance and flexibility in service provisioning. Rate limiting on the subscriber ports allows for service in increments of 64Kbps, allowing service providers to offer tiered service
Multicast Bandwidth Control A static bandwidth control mechanism is proposed. Each multicast channel is provisioned with a “bandwidth usage” information, the system will check if total bandwidth exceeds “bandwidth budget” during IGMP snooping to decide if joining a multicast group is permitted or not.
Upstream Access Control Mechanism VLC1224G-41 supports not only 802.1x port-based access control for subscriber authentication, but also define a limited number of MAC addresses that can access the network from a particular port. This feature denies access of unauthorized devices to communicate through the switch and highly enhances network security. Another access control feature is the capability to limit the number of users (MAC addresses) that can access the network simultaneously on a per-port basis, allowing the service provider to offer flexible billing plans. Besides that, VLC1224G-41 provides per-port packet classification rules based on the header information up to layer 4 and the corresponding action rules to manipulate incoming packets as needed
DHCP snooping VLC1224G-41 provides DHCP snooping mechanism to prevent users using static IP address. If a port is DHCP enabled then IP packets from the port can not pass through the line card if the IP address of the packets are not leant by DHCP snooping mechanism
Transparent LAN Service VLC1224G-41 provides IEEE 802.1ad VLAN stacking function. If the function is enabled, it can add providers s-tag for incoming c-tag frames without checking c-tag value or add s-tag to incoming untagged frames. ‘s-tag will be removed while frames are toward subscribers. Moreover, different ports can apply the same s-tag value. With the mechanism, operators can easily identify traffics from different users/applications and route the traffics to associated ISPs
