This is a quality and reliable drive. I've had no issues at all so far, and I use it all the time, both at home and when I travel. The drive is surprisingly quiet and doesn't get hot. The aluminum casing is great for heat dissipation. The data can be protected with a password.

Porsche Design is an excellent, high quality drive at a decent price. It's compact, encased in a strong aluminum casing and simple to operate. The USB cable is of good length. I was particularly pleased with the supplied automatic backup and data encryption software. This is a big advantage for a portable drive.

This LaCie Porsche design 500 GB is excellent. After reformatting, I am using it to back up my Macbook Air and it is flawless. You won't even know it is running unless you see the light. Very stylish to leave on the desk.

I regularly take this drive to client meetings, and it hasn't failed me once. It's fast, easy to use and bus powered. What I also like about it is that it came with 10 GB of free cloud storage, where I now store older project revisions. Overall, I'm very happy with this drive. It's worth every penny.

Fast and reliable, 2012-11-24

I take a lot of photos when I'm travelling and I hate deleting them. I like to take everything in RAW format because it gives a much better colour response. I was starting to run out of room on my computer so I bought one of these drives to transfer my photo collection across. It's nice and fast, and it frees up a lot of space on my machine.

Excellent Portable Drive, 2013-01-19

I used to have a portable drive in a plastic enclosure - it smashed the day I dropped it. The cover cracked from side to side. That's why I bought this Porsche drive, the metal casing wouldn't crack like that. Besides, it's a really nice unit - fast, solid, and good-looking.

I use this to store my music library, e-books and work documents. There is only one cable - USB 3.0, but it's backward compatible with USB 2.0, so I can plug it into my (older) laptop at work. It looks very nice, and seems to be solidly built.
