The FireWire 800 port costs a premium (my Mac doesn't have eSata), but this is one of the most inexpensive drives so equipped. I like the power switch and prefer the form factor over the MyBook (I own several) or horizontal models (I have several). Not all of mine are 2TB nor FireWire 800, but this is my 6th Fantom drive, still without any issue.

Pleasantly surprised that the unit came with all the relevant cables including the Firewire 800 cable. No formatting required at all for my MacBook Pro. Connected without a hitch over F/W 800. Set up Time Machine and went on about my business. I have three Fantom drives of varying sizes and never had a problem with any of them. It would be nice if they offered a desktop rack to hold multiple units. Or, alternatively, developed a "zero footprint" model ;-0 ... Ernie
