USB SuperDrive - Still missing BD & USB3, 2012-07-10

Two missing items with this drive especially in light of it's price. 1. USB 3.0 2. Blue ray Disk reading
DVDs are becoming standard for data, but BD is pretty common for movies.
Also, in light of the new USB 3 ports on the new MacBooks, i would have expect this to be USB 3, at least as an option.
Other than these issue, the drive works ok. I still have not had a chance to try writing data or audio, but otherwise, the bandwidth seems ok and it reads most of the disks I have tried. There are several DVDs that it would not read, but I'm not sure what the reason is. Perhaps something wrong with those disks.

I plugged it in to my Mini-Mac and it worked without needing to do anything else. It is just what it is said to be and yes I would recommend it to anyone needing a DVD-CD drive for their Mac.

You just can't beat Apple products for aesthetics! Sure you can get a cheaper drive that functions just as good, but why? Unless you simply can't afford it, there is no reason not to get this drive. Functions great and looks even better.

DVD does not eject, 2012-09-28

I just received my new computer and USB Superdrive. I inserted a DVD and it will not eject. I have to go the the Apple store to get the problem resolved. Hopefully it is a simple solution !! Thanks, Terry

This is a wonderful little superdrive to complement your computer. I bought it for my MacBook Air, which has no CD drive in it. It is nice to be able to watch movies now, import music to my computer, burn CDs or DVDs, etc. Very quality product. Nice and compact (which makes traveling with it easy) and plugs right in to your USB port. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend this drive to anyone looking for one for their computers!

As optical discs become less necessary, this device is a good solution for having one on-hand as the need arises. Paired with and powered by my MacMini, I have a solution that sits by without getting in the way and is available to my other Macs.

It’s an Apple--works right out of the box, 2013-01-04

Typical Apple product. No crazy, confusing set-up. No software issues. Just plug it in and it works. Perfectly. Love that this and the Time Capsule are automatically covered by my AppleCare Protection Plan, just in case. I found that you do have to make sure the Apple advisor knows that, though. When I tried to register this under AppleCare, the advisor didn’t realize it was covered. He suggested asking an uninformed advisor to investigate the AppleCare agreement, should there ever be any pushback on whether these accessories are covered
