The LG Electronics Super Multi-Portable 8x USB 2.0 External DVD+/-RW Drive/Writer- Silver is stated that it Connects to your MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac or Mac mini. This is equivalent to the Apple USB SuperDrive. It lets you install software and play and burn both CDs and DVDs. I guess it will work with Windows 8 if you have it installed on a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac or Mac Mini, via Parallels or Bootcamp.

So far I have been unable to burn a disc and had to go back to my PC in order to get a legal file out the door on time. I tried to upload CDs to iTunes and it kept erroring out there as well. It took all day to copy 3 discs, then just errors.

I am a professional photographer who is transferring ALL of my media discs to hard drives. I wanted to buy an external superdrive to take the beating of running thousands of discs instead of my internal superdrive. This LG superdrive works perfectly for what I am doing. Out of the box there were zero issues or anything. Its super slim and quiet and runs off of a usb port on your computer. Its a great item from a company I have used for many years.

This store is awesome and the LG DVD writer is too. Ordered it on 12/27 and received on 12/31. That was great timing. I have already burned 3 CDs. My internal player on my MacBook Pro does not recognize blank cds anymore and this is a great way to burn cds without replacing the internal player. I recommend this writer as an alternative. Thanks to this seller and LG. You have made my day wonderful. ;-)
