The MacBook family of Apple Computers consists of the MacBook, MacBook Pro, and the MacBook Air. They are designed to deliver high-performance computing on the go, combining power and mobility to give their owners a full-featured computer away from the desk. They operate wherever you go, and handle whatever you do. MacBook, the consumer-focused notebook among the three, was designed and manufactured for the education markets. It sports entry-level specs and an affordable price range. In July of 2011, the MacBook was discontinued in favor of the MacBook Air. With its all-flash storage and lightweight durable design, the MacBook Air is Apple’s entrant to the ultraportable division of laptop computers. It is available in 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch models and weighs as little as 3lbs. But the MacBook Air boasts of the same high level of performance as those in laptops twice its size. MacBook Pro, on the other hand, is at the high-end of MacBook computers. It has high-performance processors, powerful graphics, and extended battery life. It is also equipped with high-quality screen and sturdy unibody construction, making it a favorite among professionals needing a powerful computer wherever they go. |

Reviewed by Jeff McNulty (2012-02-01) Excellent for every computing need while travellingThis machine is just amazing. It’s been three months now since I got the MacBook Air from MacMall and I still couldn’t get over the feeling of awe for this very beautiful computer. I almost could not put it down. Heck, it has even replaced our home desktop, to a considerable degree, as my primary computer. I use the Air for everything else, and just go to the desktop when I play Halo and WoW.
The real wonder of the Air is its portability. It’s very mobile: It has sleek design, is light, and has dependable battery life. I could use it on airport lobbies like I’m opening a smartphone. Actually, because of the flash storage used on iPhones and MacBook Airs, both devices enjoy an instant-on capability.
My only downside is the screen. At 11 inches it is sometimes too small for my big hands. I would have invested on the 13-inch model instead had I known that the Air would be this lovely. But, oh well. So if you really want a mobile computer that will give you portable computing at its finest, go for the 13-incher. I give this 11-inch MacBook Air a 5-Star all the same because I’m still pretty satisfied with it. |

Reviewed by raydamonster (2012-02-18) Very Pleased with MacBook ProI had a 27" iMac that I used a lot for video work, but I wanted to replace it with something portable and yet powerful. The MacBook Pro seemed to fit the bill. The MBP arrived quickly, and I was up and running after transferring my old files from a Time Machine backup. Upgrading the RAM myself from 4 to 8GB was very easy. It's not as fast as the iMac (i7 Quad Core), but it isn't a slouch either. I am able to do video work efficiently.
Natural scrolling on Lion took a little getting used to, but I am slowly retraining myself. Battery life so far has been good but not spectacular. I haven't used it heavily while unplugged, so we'll see.
Pros: portability, processing power, easy to upgrade RAM (serviceability), number of ports, hard drive capacity (750 GB), backlit keyboard, Lion OS.
Cons: sharp edges are uncomfortable on palms, screen glare worse than expected (although image is sharp), fan can get rather noisy when processing video, mag safe power cable doesn't always attach properly (need to verify that charging light on connector lights up).
Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and would consider buying another MacBook Pro--maybe the 17 inch (I miss the 27 inches of my iMac). |

Reviewed by Chris (2012-02-06) MacBook Air 11.6I needed a portable companion for my 27" iMac I purchased direct from Apple last fall (with education discount). iPad considered, but doesn't have the "computer" power/flexibility I needed. The MacBook Air fit the bill and MacMall had an outstanding price (better than the education discount) and free two day shipping.
Product arrived on time and in perfect condition. Only issue I encountered was unable to use two credit cards on their online ordering site. Called, spoke to rep who quickly processed my order. About two hours later received call from MacMall confirming my order.
Great service, accurate, complete. I would highly recommend purchasing from MacMall in the future. Currently using Air for grad school, home business, leisure. |
