Packed with Features for the Price
Just got my MacBook Pro... delivered in 3 days, opened the box and ready to go. This is my first mac and the only thing I wish I did differently was get it earlier. There are a few things that take getting used to, primarily keyboard layout and file placement but these are very minor. I was a little concerned about the lack of an optical drive but this has not proven to be a problem at all. I downloaded Parallels and Office from their respective sites. They came down quickly and I had them up and running in about 20 minutes each. In terms of the former, I honestly think Windows 7 runs better on my Mac than on my previous laptop. Overall I am quite pleased and would recommend this to anyone looking to replace their laptop.

Packed with Features for the Price
My PC died in mid-May, and since my experiences with my last two PCs have been painful, I decided to make the move to a Mac. I wanted a laptop that would replace my desktop, including a powerful processor, ample memory, and a reasonably large screen for a laptop.
The Apple store prices made me gulp. And I couldn't find machines at other resellers that had all of my desired features. Then I found this unit from this store. It has everything I wanted at a competitive price.
It's very speedy at crunching numbers and loading webpages, runs very quietly, and was very easy to set up. I'm finding the Mac experience very enjoyable, even with the inevitable frustrations that come with changing platforms, including learning new menus and discovering that I needed to buy Parallels, a Windows OS, and Quicken for Windows to keep managing my finances as well as I did on my PC.
The loaded OS was Lion, not Mountain Lion, which doesn't bother me, and the unit can run quite hot on the underside, which won't bother me if that doesn't threaten the computer's components. All in all, a great buy that I'd recommend to anyone with similar preferences.

one of the finest laptops out there!
I have a few different laptops for comparison, including a 17" macbook pro and a lenovo from 2 years ago. The thing that strikes me about this MBPr is the amazing design and polish of the machine. It exudes a classy character, and feels expensive! So far, I like the retina display, it is sharp and clear. The white balance of the display is warmer than the cold bluish tint of the non-retina display.
At first it seems a touch duller that others, but it is so, so natural and non-fatiguing! (when the iPhone 5 came out, many noticed the tint changed compared to the 4S as well) I don't notice any ghosting or image retention, but I have not looked all that hard. I just use the computer like it was meant to be used. The laptop is zippy-fast and the graphics are smooth. I have no fan-noises either. I am trying really hard to fault anything on this machine, but here it goes: New power connector requires a not-included- adapter. Price - this thing costs! Add in the price of the Superdrive, ethernet adapter and so on, and you add another 100 bucks to the product. Outside of that little quibble, I love this machine.
For laughs, I sometimes work on my Lenovo… a slow, cheap hunk of plastic, that updates every time I turn it on. To be fair, it was only a grand, but it really lets you know what you paid for with the MBPr

Worth every penny - no regrets
I've been using this MacBook Pro for a couple of months and I have yet to run into a major problem. I got the laptop to complement/replace my main computer and so I can do work outside the house.
The processor is excellent, makes this MacBook Pro leagues more capable than my old PC. The OS is also very user-friendly, syncing files and software between my old PC and new MacBook Pro has been hassle-free. One of the things I like most about this laptop is that it runs very quietly, even after many hours of heavy use. It very rarely gets hot, too, so I can use it on my lap for hours.
This laptop just seems very well-built to me. The body itself feels solid, like it's going to last me years without breaking or falling apart. The multi-touch trackpad is turning out to be a huge convenience, as is the LED-backlit keyboard.

13.3” MacBook Pro – perfect size and function
I was looking for a laptop I could use when working at home and I couldn't be happier that I went for a 13.3" MacBook Pro. The first thing I like about it is its size. It's not so small that I have to adjust my posture while working and it's not so big that it's unwieldy and I can't carry it comfortably. Of course, being an Apple product, the MBP is also a looker and feels very solid, probably due to its unibody construction. The other two features I love about the MBP is its large trackpad and backlit keyboard - makes using the MacBook so much more convenient. I was also pleasantly surprised by its battery life. Running at full speed, my MacBook lasts for about 5 to 6 hours.
Of course, the Mountain Lion OS coupled with the i5 processor makes most programs run smoothly. Multi-tasking is a breeze, so it's been a godsend in terms of my productivity. MBPs may be a bit more expensive, but I consider mine as a great investment.

A Portable Powerhouse
I had my eye on a 13" MBP with retina for a few months and when I saw the fantastic deal here on this model, I had to jump! Heck, most retailers have the i5 model with 128GB for the same price. This was a no-brainer! As expected, this computer blows everything else I have ever used out of the water. It’s portable...fast...responsive...stylish...everything you would expect from Apple. Plus, the screen is absolutely brilliant. If you are in the market for a 13" MBP, spend a little more to get the i7 and 256GB - trust me - it’s worth it.

MacBook Pro is one Great Laptop!
I have never owned a MacBook prior to this. I am in-fact a "PC user" and have been for the past 20+ years. However, I got my first taste of Mac a few months ago when I changed jobs and now understand the hype.
My PC at home was near the end of its journey and was "seeing the light at the end of the tunnel". I made the choice to purchase this 17" MacBook Pro as my desktop replacement. I could not be more happier.
The machine is outstanding. As far as design is concerned, it is about a bulky as most other 17" laptops with the exception that it is thinner - at least it appears to be.
The graphics are great and I have used it for some 3D gaming (mostly EVE Online) and it is outstanding. However, the GPU can get pretty hot. You'll notice the heat on the back/bottom of the laptop and metal bar above the function keys in front of the MacBook Pro logo.
While the machine runs a bit on the warm side when rendering 3D graphics, it is still well within normal tolerances for the equipment. I think part of this is that the metal skin radiates heat while the plastic case of most PC's don't. I am sure the GPU's would actually be running as close to the same temperatures.

Great, solid machine
This machines is solid, the 16GB of RAM makes it soar through anything you throw at it. It shows even in booting up and shutting down. The Flash hard drive makes opening large files smooth and fast. It’s awesome coming from a 7-year-old Core Duo MacBook. It may be a bit overkill for what I’m going to be using it for, but it’s absolutely amazing. It will be nice to get back into photo editing as my old machine didn’t handle it well at all.
If you’re on the fence about getting so much RAM or the bigger hard drive, after reading other reviews- keep in mind that they’re soldered on and not user replaceable. Made it a no-brainer for me. The store also contacted me with free expedited shipping with Applecare purchase, something I was going to get anyway, so I got it the next day for free!

Way more than expected
I work in tech support for a university in Texas. I have been handling Apple products of all sorts over the years. The Macbook Pro has always been a favorite when I get a new one come in (they almost never break).
So my PC desktop died and my old 2008 Macbook couldn't handle doing the video editing I do as a freelance videographer. The old Macbook took 10 hours to export a 5 minute clip and the same clip on the new Macbook Pro took 10 minutes. No contest.
I love this Mac way more than expected and its power is way more than expected. I went from a PC desktop with an Intel Core2Quad and 8GB of RAM to this MBP running an i7 and 16GB. I knew it'd be an upgrade, but I had no idea how much better it is.
I've been carrying it everywhere, it is really thin and light. For SXSW, I spent a day with it in my backpack along with all my photo/video gear and it didn't break my back. The battery life is damn good for what it is, a portable desktop. I can get around 4-6 hours doing video/photo/audio editing on the go. I think I could see 10 hours if I did light internet work with word processing.
The Retina display setting felt cramped to me, so I bumped it up one notch and now the 15 in. screen look like a 17. The clarity and color depth of this panel have no competition from what I've seen of the current market.
I've been regularly running this Pro with a 2nd display editing video, exporting a video, audio editing, watching Netflix and internet surfing all at the same time. It barely even registers as taxed by that.
The downsides are typical. Chrome can't full-screen Youtube videos if you install the Adobe Flash plugin, so don't install it and let Chrome use its plugin. For me, the 256GB SSD is a little small, but the USB 3.0 ports make loading an external drive a snap. No native NTFS support but there is Tuxera for that. No other glaring issues as I am accustomed to OSX and I moved my working OSX image from my old 08 Macbook.

The absolute BEST laptop I have ever owned!!!
This laptop is hands-down the BEST laptop I have ever owned!!! It is the very first time I have ever bought any of the Macbook products, and I was initially hesitant because I can literally buy 3 notebook computers from another brand for one MacBook Pro! However, my friends and co-workers highly recommended the MacBook Pro because they emphasized the huge difference between Apple laptops and laptops from other brands.
Once I received my MacBook Pro, I couldn't be happier!!! I didn't have to wait eons for my laptop to start, and the set-up was so smooth and easy! I love how my MacBook is so light and easy to carry and store away, and incredibly user-friendly! My previous two laptops were HP, and they weren't bad. But they were standard laptops that took a while to boot up and function, and even after I had to replace the battery for my last HP laptop, it still would fizzle and conk out on me.
The battery life for my MacBook is just perfect!! I hardly have to charge it up that many times, and it's always good to go!! I really can't think of anything bad to say about it!! I have definitely gotten bitten by the Apple bug, and I seriously can't go back to any other computer!!

Probably the best laptop series ever made
First of all I can say that I was amazed at the swift, fantastic job done by the store. They were on their game, and very professional! I feel like it was too short of a process! They were very professional and shipped this computer the within days. It was packed with great care. As far as my MBP, I feel that I got a killer deal and it is the best laptop I have ever owned. The battery life is amazing!
I'm a lifetime Windows/PC user who converted to the Macbook in 2008. This Macbook pro is a sturdier/sleeker design than the previous Macbooks. The software is as good as it gets. Startups/shutdowns are lightning fast. Internet/wifi connectivity works perfectly (as with any apple product). Safari is a weak browser, so I suggest using Firefox or Chrome - this will unleash the best web-surfing experience. This OS allows you to do Airplay - which has made music/movies much more enjoyable (I project them to my TV).
Yes, it's pricier than the PC laptops out there. But so worth it.

MacBook Pro Gets Better and Better
I bought my first Mac in October 1984 and was amazed. Now, with my new MacBook Pro with Retina display, I am still amazed. And yet, despite the many differences, it is still a Mac and I feel comfortable and right at home. The migration from my 2008 MacBook Pro to my new one went smoothly, and I sort of felt left out as there was almost nothing for me to do. It moved everything I wanted without any input from me.
The entire package is almost perfect. The only minor complaints I have is that there is not a separate button / bar to click. Also, the metal where I open my MacBook Pro is a little sharp and awkward to use. I am sure that both complaints with fade with continued usage. All in all, I can't help but wonder what features could possibly be included that will make me want another in the future. I look forward to being amazed again.

1st Time MacBook Pro Owner
I'm very impressed with my MacBook Pro with Retina display and quad-core. I am a freelance photographer and web content specialist who has been using Adobe Creative Suite 6 on my work PC. For my personal and freelance work, I had been using a stationary PC, and its dual core processor has been too slow to handle the hundreds of large photo files I shoot at weddings and events.
I'm finding it easy to learn the new features of my MacBook, as it came loaded with short video tutorials instructing on iTunes, Mail, Safari, and every other application already installed. I can still open my Microsoft Word and Excel documents, and I can still use the right-click function, which is one of the multi-touch gestures on my track pad.
I just can't get over the amazing picture quality that this new little MacBook has! Mac technology is far superior to any PC, too. It's a perfect size to use for everything because it's easy to take with you, yet not so small that you can't fit anything on the screen. Just love it!

MacBook Pro with Retina Display: Perfection
This MacBook Pro (with Retina display) replaces my faithful white MacBook of 2007 vintage running Mac OS 10.5.8. The local Apple Store completed the data transfer.
The new OS (Mountain Lion) does not support my old version of Office for Mac 2004, nor my old Lexmark X75 all-in-one inkjet printer. This is not all bad, as it forced me to update Office software to 2011 and to an HP all-in-one that had been part of my 2007 purchase, but remained unused. However, the old white MacBook coped with the older software and printer well.
As to the new MacBook Pro (with Retina display), this reflects the progress made over the years from 2007, both in hardware and software. The result in my estimation is, as the review title indicates, the perfect laptop; and a work of art.
