The MacBook Air is a nice package overall. It feels sturdy despite its size and weight. The brushed aluminum finish looks classy and solid. And the unibody enclosure makes it convenient to carry around without having to worry about breaking the laptop, which happens to me often enough with other notebooks of plastic finish.
One of the concerns I have about the MacBook Air is the lack of an optical disc drive. It is not often that I use the optical disc drive of my old laptop, but it would be nice to have this option. In the end, though, I figured I might not have a use for a CD or DVD afterall.
As for the OS, well it's a Mac. It's good OS-wise through and through.
For the design, I give it a 10. It's one of the best-looking laptop I have ever seen. The backlit keyboard is nice. The well-spaced trackpad is very convenient to use. And the 13-inch size is appropriate for an ultraportable.
Inside the MacBook Air, the i5-SSD configuration is amazingly fast! It tends to warm up sometimes, I noticed, but a simple reboot fixes the problem. Lastly, the battery life is super long and the battery meter is dependable.

MacBook Air is Very Nice!
So far I am very happy with my Macbook Air. It runs smoothly, powers up quickly and shuts down in 3 seconds. Amazing!
Before making my purchase, I was toying with the idea of buying an Ipad. However, after a significant amount of research I realized that I needed additional functionality such as more memory, more power, a keyboard, a little bit of a larger screen, the ability to install software like Lightroom and Microsoft Office, and the ability to shoot tethered to my DSLR with the photos being imported directly into Lightroom.
After my research, I pretty much concluded that I would get so much more for my money if I purchased the Macbook Air. It is very sturdy and is so small, lightweight and ultra portable. It comes with a regular size keyboard. The only downsides that I can think of at this time are that it does not have an IPS monitor, the speakers need to be louder and I wish that this model came with a backlit keyboard.
The only other thing that I would like to say in this review is that I searched everywhere for a well made bag/sleeve that is feminine. The ONLY place that sells such stuff is Etsy. If you buy a Macbook Air, you need to search Etsy for a nice protective cover. Hope this helps someone today. :)

MacBook Air: In a word, WOW.
I've been using a maxed-out MacBook Pro since late 2009 and to be honest, loved it. But when the latest version of the Air (with the backlit keyboard) came out last summer, I knew it was time to upgrade. I've had the Air now for less than a week, but it's everything I was hoping it would be. I'd been concerned that the 1.8Ghz chip would be slower in actual use than the 2.26Ghz chip in my MacBook Pro, but it's anything BUT. I'd also worried that dropping back down to 4GB RAM from 8 would be problematic, but so far I haven't had any issues. I have the same half-dozen applications open all the time that I did on the Pro and there's been no difference in responsiveness. The machine is everything you've read about it: fast, light, and very, very sexy.
Word and Excel, which used to take upwards of 30 seconds to open and "settle" on the Pro, open almost instantaneously and are ready to go. I've also noticed that Adobe Bridge has not yet crashed, something that used to be a several-times-a-day occurrence on the Pro.
As reported elsewhere, the fan does spin up and run loudly when watching flash videos, and certain screen savers also send it into overdrive, but otherwise it stays quiet and cool.
It's obviously a pricey piece of hardware, but in this reviewer's opinion, worth every penny.
Everyone should have a notebook this advanced. And now everyone can.
