Reviewed By Jeremy Lin (2012-02-01) Great product. Fast Service I’m really loving the Mac Pro that I bought from MacMall last year. I got the 8-core model, powered by 2 Westmeres. It’s blazing fast and very convenient to use as a development machine. I have both Windows and OSX installed via Parallels and they work seamlessly on the machine.
This Mac Pro is our second Mac, and 3rd desktop actually. It is easily the fastest and most competent machine I have ever had the pleasure to use. I hooked it up with a dual monitor for bigger screen real estate, plus an Edifier speaker system. The result is one amazing multimedia machine that is even better than what I had originally intended the Mac Pro to be when I bought it.
Also, I must say, the Mac Pro produces the kind of power that I described above effortlessly. At least it looks so. There is very minimal heat coming from the unit and no unwanted noise coming from the system. It’s like a walk in the park for the Mac Pro whatever task you throw at it. |

Reviewed by Jimmy Buffett(2012/01/05) Mac Pro: Great Product, Great Price I have long been eyeing a Mac Pro, but was holding back from buying one because I think that it would soon be refreshed and the price would soon go down. Last BF the price did go down, mainly because of the sale left and right from different online store. So I decided to grab this quad-core unit. It’s priced great for a product that is NOT refurbished.
So far it’s been great. The Mac Pro is blazingly fast. Its speed is what you would expect from a high-end computer. If you’re used to laptops, you’d be blown away by the speed of this machine. I didn’t customize the Mac Pro I bought, just went with the stock quad-core Nehalem with 3GB RAM. I’d get around to it as soon I need extra processing power and graphics rendering.
Right now, though, it looks like it would be a long time until I’m going to need that upgrade. I’ve finished installing the software I needed. From parallels to autocad to firefox. And it is still fast and snappy, with all the strength of a supercomputer. |

Reviewed by RebelYell (2011/12/08) This Mac Pro is the granddaddy of MacIt’s got a two-year-old technology. That’s probably 20 years in computer age. Still, the Mac Pro is as able as, or maybe better than, any desktops you would find today. It’s the tough and suave grandfather you see during family reunions. It’s capable and still relevant.
Heavy graphics usage, like 3D and visual effects rendering, is a breeze on a Mac Pro. I bought the base model (2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem Processor, 3GB RAM, 1TB Hard Drive, ATI Radeon HD 5770) Apple released last year. It’s fast, efficient, and the images it throws to an LCD monitor are top notch.
Of course, there’s a downside. This has no Thunderbolt. This wouldn’t matter to you if, like me, you live in the present. I don’t use a Thunderbolt-capable device. Maybe 5 years from now, I would. But maybe 5 years from now, I would have a new computer.
As for the design, I’m pretty surprised at the smoothness of the Mac Pro performance. It is well-ventilated. I never felt it become hot or heard any noise when I Use it, even when I stretch its processing power. |
