iPod touch: Love, love, love it!

In case the title doesn’t make it clear: I love this iPod! It’s a well-designed and well-thought device that I find it hard to put it down. Movies, music, photos, you name it. I enjoy my digital files on a small form factor that is easy to carry around. It can’t make phone calls, unlike an iPhone, but this absence makes the iPod faster and snappy, I noticed. Now my old trusty iPhone 3G is merely a phone, as I now use the iPod touch for most of the things that I used to do on an iPhone. Also, it has made the touch thinner and lighter that I don’t mind carrying it in my pocket.

Aside from media consumption, the iPod touch has been very good for organizing my stuff. The stock to-do list app, Reminders, is pretty useless for me because it doesn’t sync with Google which I use most of the time. I use G-Task to keep things organize and have it synced across multiple devices from PC to iPhone to iPod touch. It just works!

The app store is amazing because there are thousands of apps you could get, some free some range from 99 cents to $50 or so. It looks like anything you want to do on a computer you could do on the iPod touch via apps. And you do it nicely because the apps, compare to web apps, are much nicer. There are stupid apps, but there are great ones too. Keynote is pretty powerful, as well Air Play, Viber and Frequency. If you’re looking into going mobile with some of your work, the iPod touch provides a decent third device that could help you do some of the things you do online.

Because of App Store, iPod touch limitless!

Got hooked with the App Store since I got my iPhone 3G three years ago. Now the phone is slow especially with the latest games so I got the iPod touch. I must say it is the best purchase I have ever made! The touch, small though it is, does lots of things because of the App Store.

Aside from games, a number of productivity apps enabled me to do what I’d normally do on a full computer. It’s just amazing how for every concern you have, there’s an app for that.

I have the complete iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote). And they work amazing on the little screen of the iPod touch. It’s nice having Apple to optimize these apps for mobile devices. The iPod touch works snappy even when opening large-size documents. Not sure about the processor of the iPod touch but it sure is better and faster than the iPhone 3G’s.

Lastly, I must add that the iPod touch is one excellent “third device.” It allows you to go online whenever there’s wifi. It allows you to bring your notes and calendars wherever you are. It’s a great organizer.

iPod touch a winner!

This is my gift for myself and I’m very satisfied. The iPod has been a trustworthy media player and little computer. It’s got a really great battery life. So far it has not surprised me with sudden need to charge in the middle of browsing or whatever it is I was doing at the time. And that’s great because that’s what I was looking for in a portable device.

Hardware-wise, the iPod touch feels classy and nice. It does not have the best speakers, I think. And not the best screen. I’d still prefer a SuperAMOLED than the Retina display of the iPod touch. But it’s enough for me. I mean, I work hard for my money and I want the best for it. But the iPod touch is the best portable device all around if you take hardware and software all together.

As for the OS, the latest version looks pretty powerful. I love iCloud! It has made my SugarSync account unnecessary as it would do to more online services I’m sure. It’s the future. It’s really neat to have your files accessible everywhere there is Internet. Not sure if iCloud is good for enterprise though, but if your documents consist of term papers, vacation photos, resume, etc., iCloud ought to be enough.
