iPod classic 160GB review

This is by far the most spacious iPod there is. It has a roomy 160GB of digital space. It fits all my music and photo collection easily. For the video, only the choice ones make it to my iPod classic because of the space constraints. I find no problem with it though. Movies are best watched in my HDTV anyway.

The iPod classic storage is not flash, but I find nothing wrong with it. I believe flash is appropriate if you have an advanced OS like the iOS is nowadays. For simple tasks like music/movie/photo slideshow, the iPod classic hard drive is the most economical and most appropriate because you get to use more space at a low price. Also, I must say, the OS takes up little space unlike in other iPod like the touch and the nano.

As for the design, it’s amazing how “in” the iPod classic still is in the looks department. Perhaps you notice how dated some gadgets look like. You can easily identify from what year a product comes from just by looking at the design. The white MacBooks are one of those gadgets. The iPod classic remains good-looking, at least as far as I’m concerned. Well, to each his own, I guess.

Review of purchased iPod classic

The iPod classic is okay. It’s still solid in terms of design and capabilities despite the plethora of iPods that Apple has released ever since. Now they have multi-touch, flash storage, etc. But if you need a dependable iPod that has big capacity and long battery life, the iPod classic is a good choice.

Aside from storage, there’s really not much to say about the iPod classic. That’s its main value proposition. It has Genius and Playlist, like the later models of iPods like the nano, shuffle and touch. You can play games but, if you have used an iPod touch or iPad to play games, better not try the classic for such purpose because you’d only be disappointed; or not, if you miss classic games that you can play using the iPod classic.

I’d recommend this for those who have a considerable amount of media files that they want to access all the time. I’m a fan of YouTube videos. I have a hundred or so of downloaded YouTube videos that I want to watch whenever I felt like it. It’s about 10MB each vid, if it’s really good quality. So the iPod classic got it covered with still plenty of room for audio files and photos.

iPod classic still has it

It’s awesome how a four-year-old technology can still do what it does better than other latest products. With the advent of the App Store, the iPod classic may not be relevant right now. It can’t play apps and it can’t surf the Web. But it does what it does, and in doing this it is the best! It has a big, high-capacity storage. It is not flash-based but it does hold and play your digital files really well. This is the main reason I bought a classic that any of those flash-based iPods. This has the biggest capacity of them all.

For anyone who is still on the fence about what iPod they should get, consider the iPod classic. If all that you will require is music playing, you won’t be disappointed in this.
