  A lucky find,  2013-11-02
By Jody Hudson

Soon after I bought my MacBook Air, I set up an Airport Express with an external USB hard disk for a Time Machine disk.. Soon after that, Apple stopped supporting USB drives for Time Machine. I then acquired a disk with an Ethernet port to use for an NAS disk, which worked, albeit very slowly and occasional glitches. Setup was difficult and baffling, and I may never have gotten it right. This product, which is apparently no longer in the Apple catalog, is what I should have bought in the first place. Setup was simple and trouble-free. Backups which used to take 15 to 30 minutes on the Airport Express now take about 5 minutes. I bought the 3 TB size, which is probably way more than I will ever need for my 256 GB Air, but I couldn't resist the bargain price.
