Ultrabooks are a special group of portable computers that are slim, light, sleek, and fast. Crafted by Intel, these specific notebooks have to meet specific criteria to deserve such a designation.
To be considered an Ultrabook, it has to be at most 18mm thick for notebooks with at most a 14-inch display and 23mm for notebooks larger than a 14-inch display, which is thinner compared to most notebooks, in general.
Another Ultrabook requirement is that it must have bundled Intel's ULV hardware platforms and fast storage, which could either be a solid state drive or a combination of HDD and SSD. Speaking of Intel, these Ultrabooks have to support several of Intel??????¢??s technological features, like Anti-Theft or Identity Protection.
Ultrabooks also have to last at least five hours on a single charge when using an IvyBridge setup, while the Haswell ones have to last at least nine hours in idle mode, at least six hours when playing videos, and at least seven days when on standby.
Also, batteries on most of these particular notebooks are already encased and are non-removable. The same can also be said for other components like memory or storage.
In addition, Ultrabooks mainly use premium materials like magnesium, aluminum, carbon fiber, and glass. Most of these also have backlit keyboards.
Otherwise, most of the things that are featured on a standard notebook can also be featured in an Ultrabook, from the available ports and to the OS.
MacMall is offering a diverse set of Ultrabooks from different kinds of manufacturers, whether it is from HP, Dell, Lenovo, ASUS, or others. Each manufacturer has its own set of specifications to make it distinct from the other.
